INTERIOR DESIGN & FURNITURE – LES CORTS APARTMENT

Kitchen renovations in Les Corts, Barcelona

Full Renovation in Les Corts, Barcelona

This apartment is located on Av. Tarradellas in Barcelona, in the Les Corts area, has an area of about 100m2, and required a full renovation.

Initial conditions of the renovation

The new owners of this apartment are a family of four and required a living room, dining room, and kitchen in a single space, three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a laundry room.

The layout of this apartment was quite fragmented and marked by a structural wall placed longitudinally within the dwelling, which divided the apartment into two zones along the hallway.

The rooms facing the exterior facade are very bright. In this project, we placed in the facade area the two bedrooms for the couple’s daughters, a spacious master bedroom with a dressing room, and the daytime area. It is in this open space that we decided to integrate the living room and the kitchen. It would have been ideal to incorporate the hallway space into the daytime area, but it was only possible to open the longitudinal wall with the two preexisting passages. These passages can be closed with two sliding doors with tracks embedded in the ceiling of the hallway.

Renovation plan

The final executed proposal by Romanelli Interior Design Studio included a change in the distribution of the two individual rooms. Other changes as a consequence of the renovations are the demolition of the side wall that served as a separator, in order to join the adjacent room and convert it into a dressing room.

Kitchen and bathrooms

Regarding the old kitchen, we have converted it into the laundry room and have given up some space to the toilet. This toilet, previously located next to it, was transformed into a full bathroom with a rather neutral style for the main bedroom. The other bathroom has been completely renovated; we have placed rectangular tiles in the style of New York subway, in bottle green color, combining the tiles with solid oak furniture.

For the kitchen furniture, a design of a custom-made kitchen in white was chosen, combined with some oak doors matching the floor. The countertop is from the Neolith Retrostone brand.

Parquet flooring

Another change made during the renovation of this apartment is a solid floating wooden floor, made from brushed oak wood from the Junckers parquet brand.

Custom-made cabinets

All the cabinets in the house have been designed and manufactured to order: the built-in wardrobes for the bedrooms, the dressing room for the master bedroom, the wardrobe furniture for the hallway, and the furniture for the laundry room, as well as a small piece of furniture for the television matching the kitchen furniture.

Duration of the renovation

The complete renovation of this apartment lasted approximately three months from the demolitions until the keys were handed over to the clients.

Photographs of the house

In this case, the apartment was photographed without furniture, as the clients have decided to move and reuse some of the furniture they had in their previous home.
