Full Renovation of Residence
C/ Calabria, Eixample, Barcelona

Full Renovation Project
This apartment located on C/ Calabria, Barcelona has a surface area of 140 m2 and features the typical layout of apartments in the Eixample, Barcelona.
The initial ideas for this project were to clearly define the separation between day and night areas. In this case, we chose to preserve the original oak parquet flooring (which we restored) in the night area. Meanwhile, for the day area, we decided to remove the existing flooring and replace it with hydraulic tiles with white and green rectangular geometric patterns.
Construction and Renovation
In the day area, we have distributed a living room, dining room, kitchen, and a small laundry room. In the night area, we have laid out 4 bedrooms, 2 of which are suites with private bathrooms, and a courtesy bathroom for general use.
We have equipped this residence with new installations and two ducted air conditioning circuits, one for each area (day and night). In the night area, the air conditioning is designed with an Airzone system to independently control the climate in each room.
The three bathrooms in the residence all follow the same pattern, with light gray tiles for the floor and small-format green tiles for the walls. Black fixtures and accessories.
For this apartment, we have designed custom furniture to ensure that the entire residence follows the same style, using the same materials and design throughout.
Kitchen Finishes
The kitchen cabinets, like the rest of the wardrobes in the bedrooms, are made of oak with a partially open concept. The lower cabinets have doors of the same material, while on the upper part, we decided to place a series of open shelves suspended on a series of slats. We have placed indirect lighting on all the shelves.
The same material was also used for the furniture in the living room and bathrooms.
The countertops in the bathrooms and kitchen are white with a perimeter skirt to give them more thickness, making them stand out more in the overall design.
Bedroom Furniture
We completed the bedroom furniture with custom-made beds with lift-up bed frames in all rooms to increase storage options. The headboards and nightstands were also custom-made, with indirect lighting and reading lamps on the top of each nightstand.
In the children’s bedroom, we designed 2 bunk beds with additional beds to accommodate a total of 6 children’s beds, along with a small open wardrobe that follows the same style as the other wardrobes in the residence.
A Living-Dining Room with Character
In the living room, we exposed and left visible the brick vaults, highlighting them with perimeter lighting that we designed specifically for this space.
The living room windows were in very poor condition, so we decided to install new wooden ones while respecting the original window design. The bedroom windows were replaced with aluminum frames. The other windows that were in good condition were restored by replacing hardware and glass.
All original doors of the apartment were restored and relocated as necessary according to the new layout.
Attention to Lighting
Special attention has been paid to the lighting in this residence, where we combined several points of light. Traditional technical lighting with ceiling-recessed spotlights and indirect lighting with linear recessed lighting in bathrooms and hallways, or indirect lighting integrated into custom-made furniture in the other rooms.
Duration of the Full Renovation
This renovation took approximately 6 months from the project phases through to construction, furniture, and decor, up to handover of the keys to our clients.
